Meridian, Idaho
Meridian, Idaho, in southwestern Idaho, is Idaho’s 2nd largest city and in close proximity to Boise, Idaho’s capital and the largest city. Meridian was named by Christian and Eliza Ann Zenger who received a homestead grant in 1893 and officially named the land Meridian. In 1941, Meridian officially became a city. In its early years, Meridian was the largest dairy producer in Idaho. To this day, the Meridian Dairy Days Festival still a prominent annual summer event.
Today, Meridian is the fastest growing city in Idaho and one of the fastest growing areas in the entire country. In fact, its growth is more than four times the national average. What is driving this growth? Meridian is regarded by numerous sources as being in the top 50 places to live in the United States due to is unemployment rate being way below the national average. It also has a fast-growing job market, which is a primary concern when people are thinking about relocating.
